Calcoast-ITL has been a leading developer of automotive and roadway lighting since 1949.
The original company, Industrial Testing Laboratory (ITL) founded by UC Berkeley Professor Dan Finch, worked closely with state and federal officials in determining safe and effective lighting for land, air and sea. Purchased by Calcoast Laboratory in 1988, the lab then acquired its mechanical and environmental testing capabilities. Today, Calcoast-ITL enjoys an international recognized reputation of excellence. Over 200 clients, including the U.S. and Canadian governments, rely on Calcoast-ITL.
Calcoast-ITL is owned and operated by Mark A. Evans. Mark came on board as a test engineer in 1988 and was soon managing the lighting division - a perfect fit for a UC Berkeley graduate with a degree in Physics.
Mark is currently on five SAE Lighting Committees and has both the ability and drive to advance the art of vehicle and roadway lighting. In addition, he has years of experience in litigation testing, deposition and expert testimony.
Second in command, and an integral part of the Calcoast-ITL success story, is Douglas Cummins. Douglas, also a Berkeley graduate, holds a BS in Mechanical and Nuclear Engineering. He joined the Calcoast-ITL team in 1994.
